Can you keep chickens in Township of Tabernacle, NJ?

Good to know

• Roosters and cockerels are prohibited outright.
• The coop and run must be in the rear yard, no more than 60 square feet and 8 feet high, with a covered top.
• Keeping live chickens or their by-products for sale is not authorized by this rule.
• Droppings must be cleared from each coop weekly, and manure storage areas need a liner and must be 100 feet from state waters.

What about ducks?

Only on larger lots. Tabernacle's half-acre hen permit covers chickens only; ducks are agricultural animals, which need a lot of at least six acres, with shelters and manure 100 feet from property lines.

§ 5-5.2; § 5-5.3; § 5-5.3.1c(3): "The provisions of this subsection are intended to regulate the keeping of live chickens only. The keeping of any other type of poultry when inconsistent with other sections of the Tabernacle Township Code is prohibited." Duck coops we build.
