Backyard sheds, home offices & homeschool rooms in NJ
The same real-lumber, built-to-last construction that goes into our coops, put toward the backyard building you actually need — a home office, a homeschool mini classroom, a studio, or a specialty structure. Built on your property and designed to match your home.

We're growing our shed program the way we grew our coops: build it right, start focused, and expand from there. Here's where we're pointing it.
Homeschool rooms & mini classrooms
A real backyard classroom for the kids: a quiet, dedicated room for lessons, a few steps from the house but out of the noise, finished with room for desks, storage, and a whiteboard wall. A growing ask from the homeschool families we already build coops for.
Home offices
A real workspace in the backyard, wired and finished so you can close a door on the commute without losing it entirely.
Specialty structures
Studios, hobby rooms, she-sheds, workshops, and the builds that don't fit a category. If you can picture it, we can design it.
Storage & garden sheds
Room for mowers, tools, and everything the garage ran out of space for, or a tidy home for pots, soil, and a workbench.
Three sizes to start
These are our first three shed sizes and their starting prices. Every one is custom-finished to how you'll use it, and larger and fully custom builds come next.
A compact footprint for a backyard studio, a tidy office, or focused storage.
The middle size, with room for a desk and shelving or a small homeschool room.
The most room of the three, for a home office, schoolroom, or workshop.
Wondering about permits? A shed under 200 sq ft usually clears NJ's permit threshold, but power or a finished fit-out can change that. See our NJ shed permit guide.
Designed around your property
We start with a conversation about how you'll use the shed and how it should fit your yard and your home. Then we design it, and we can put together a 3D rendering so you can settle on size, siding, roof color, doors, and windows before we build anything.

Consultation
We talk through what you need. Your animals, your budget, where it goes, and how it should fit your property and match the look of your home.
Design
We design your build from the ground up, and we can put together a 3D rendering so you can see how it will look and change the size, colors, and features before we build. No kits.
Shop build
We prebuild about 80% of your coop in our shop, with premium materials and precision craftsmanship.
Delivery & on-site assembly
We deliver the sections and assemble them on your property, like a modular home, usually in a day or two.
Shed & backyard-office questions
Do you build backyard home offices?
Yes. A backyard home office is one of the main reasons we're growing the shed program. We build the structure on-site and finish it as a real workspace, and we work with local contractors for electrical, lighting, and interior finishing so you can close a door on the commute without leaving the property.
Do you build homeschool rooms or mini classrooms?
Yes, and it's one of the fastest-growing asks from the homeschool families we already build coops for. Think of it as a mini classroom in the backyard: a quiet, dedicated room a few steps from the house, finished with room for desks, storage, a reading nook, and a whiteboard wall, with good natural light. It keeps school separate from the rest of the house without adding onto it, and we size and finish it around how your family learns. See our guide to homeschooling in NJ and the backyard classroom for more.
How much does a backyard shed cost?
Our three starting sizes are 8x10 from $4,975, 8x12 from $5,750, and 10x12 from $6,800. Those are starting points for the structure; a finished home-office or classroom fit-out (electrical, insulation, interior) is quoted with our contractors on top.
Do I need a permit for a shed in NJ?
A shed under 200 square feet usually clears New Jersey's construction-permit threshold for the structure itself, but adding power or finishing it as a livable room can change that, and zoning setbacks always apply. See our NJ shed permit guide, and note we can handle the permit paperwork (included in Sussex County, a paid add-on elsewhere).
Can the shed have electric, insulation, and lighting?
Yes. We build the shell and coordinate utilities and finishing through the local contractors we work with, so a plain storage shed and a finished, wired home office are both on the table.
How is the shed delivered and built?
The same way we build our coops: we prebuild most of it in our shop, then deliver the sections and assemble them on your property, like a modular home. That lets us reach tight or fenced yards a fully pre-built shed couldn't.
Have your own plans, drawings, or ideas?
Found a coop, shed, or enclosure you love? Have your own drawings, photos, or a board full of ideas? Bring them. We're happy to take a look at whatever you have and put together a quote to build it.
