Pigeons aren't chickens, and a loft that treats them like chickens gets it wrong. They want vertical space, perches, and their own paired nest boxes, in a coop that stays dry and moves air, because a damp, stuffy loft is where respiratory problems start. We build that, with the same real lumber and predator-proofing that goes into everything we make.

Do you build pigeon coops and lofts?
Yes. A pigeon loft is genuinely one of our favorite builds. Whether you keep homing or racing pigeons, fancy breeds, or a small utility flock, we design and build the loft to suit your birds, with the same predator-proof construction we put into our chicken coops.
What does a good pigeon loft need?
Dryness and ventilation come first, since pigeons are prone to respiratory trouble in damp, stuffy lofts. Beyond that: individual nest boxes for pairs (pigeons mate for life and want their own space), perches, protection from hawks and raccoons with half-inch hardware cloth, and, for homing or racing birds, a landing board and a trap so they can return but predators can't follow.
How is a pigeon loft different from a chicken coop?
The construction standard is the same, but the interior is laid out differently. Pigeons want vertical space, perches, and paired nest boxes rather than the roosts and communal nesting a hen flock uses. Racing and homing setups also add a landing board and trap. We build to whichever way you keep your birds.
Are pigeons allowed where I live in NJ?
It varies by town, and pigeons are sometimes treated separately from chickens in local ordinances. Some towns, like Jersey City, require the written consent of most of your block before you keep them. Check your town's rules before you build.
