When should I order a coop if I want it for spring?

Order in the fall or winter. Lead time is about two weeks most of the year, but from March through June it can stretch to six weeks, when everyone wants a coop at once.

Ordering early also leaves time to check your town's chicken rules and get any permit in hand before the build.

How long does on-site installation take?

Usually one day, and two for larger builds. About 80% of the coop is built in our shop first, then we deliver the sections and assemble them on your property like a modular home.

Lead time from order to build day is a separate question: about two weeks, and up to six weeks from March through June.

What happens after I ask for a quote?

We review your details and reach out to talk through what you want. Then we design the coop or enclosure around your land and animals, and build and install it on-site, typically about two weeks out.

The design step can include a 3D rendering so you can see the build and change size, colors and features before anything is cut. The build starts with a 50% deposit.

Can I see what my coop will look like before you build it?

Yes. You can spin the real 3D model of each of our six coops in the online designer and pick size, finish and roof color, and for a custom build we can put together a 3D rendering of your design.

On a phone, the coop pages have a View in your yard button that places the model life-size on your property, so you can check the footprint where it will stand.

Can you build a coop or shed from my own plans?

Yes. Send us your drawings, photos or examples of a coop, shed or enclosure you like, and we will look at what you have and quote it.

Custom work is the norm here, not an exception. We don't sell kits, and every build is designed around the property and the animals.

Can you build a coop bigger than your largest model?

Yes. Beyond The Manor (10'x20', 17 to 20 hens) we build fully custom coops, our Signature tier, for 20 or more hens or any layout the lineup doesn't cover. Our biggest build to date is 12' x 40'.

A custom build is quoted to your plan after we talk through the flock, the site and how you want to use it.
