Good to know

• Added 12-18-2012 by Ord. No. 22-12; the same ordinance carved female chickens out of the Borough's farm animal ban.
• Six hens is the cap per lot no matter how many dwelling units are on it.
• Henhouse must sit in a rear yard, may not exceed 30 square feet, and may not be inside a dwelling, garage or other accessory structure.
• Chickens are for personal use only. No selling eggs, breeding, slaughtering or fertilizer production for commercial purposes.
• Renters and condo or apartment residents need consent from the owner, landlord or association.

What about ducks?

No. Keyport restricts farm animals and poultry, and its only exception is female chickens kept under the backyard chicken rules.
