Can you keep chickens in Borough of Mount Ephraim, NJ?
Yes, hens only, with a license, and the program is capped. Mount Ephraim allows up to six hens on a $25 annual license, but the borough issues no more than 10 licenses at a time and every applicant has to take a class. Roosters are prohibited.

- One license per household, and the applicant must also meet the borough's zoning setback rules.
- The coop and attached predator-proof run go in the backyard and together cannot exceed 120 square feet.
- Coops are inspected once a year, or sooner on a complaint, and the owner has to allow access.
- Selling eggs is not allowed.
