Can you keep chickens in Township of Mantua, NJ?

- Added 4-8-2024 by Ord. No. O-4-2024 as a permitted accessory use in the AR Agriculture Residential District.
- The code lists fowl keeping only for the AR district, not for Mantua's other residential districts.
- § 230-46 separately says a poultry shelter may not be closer than 100 feet to any property line or to a dwelling on the same lot.
- Fowl is defined in § 230-7 as chickens, hens, ducks, turkeys, pheasants and similar barnyard birds.
What about ducks?
Only on larger lots in one zone. Mantua's fowl rule defines fowl to include ducks, so ducks need the same one-acre lot in the AR district and 30-foot setbacks.
