• Zoning § 600-11G(4) prohibits keeping livestock, poultry or fowl in residential districts, apart from the poultry farm exception in G(5).
• Under § 600-11G(5), a new poultry farm must be at least 10 acres.
• Health code Ch. 625 requires a license for any live fowl, a clean enclosure open to inspection, and an enclosed run for poultry houses. Birds may not run at large.
• Health code violations carry a penalty of $25 to $500.

What about ducks?

Only on very large lots. North Haledon's zoning bans poultry or fowl in residential districts except on a poultry farm of at least 10 acres, and its fowl definition covers birds of any kind, including ducks; any fowl also needs a yearly Board of Health license.
