The Hearthstead is a 10×20 combination structure that gives you two dedicated spaces under one roof: a 10×10 ventilated firewood bay capable of holding approximately five cords of properly stacked wood, and a 10×10 enclosed storage area for tools, equipment, and seasonal supplies.

Wood on one side, tools on the other
The enclosed storage area features six-foot-wide double doors for easy access and a durable ¾-inch tongue-and-groove floor.
The structure is finished with LP 8-inch groove siding and topped with black 29-gauge metal roof panels. Eight-foot walls on the high side provide generous interior height while maintaining the Hearthstead's practical lean-to profile.

Hearthstead questions
How much firewood does the Hearthstead hold?
The 10x10 firewood bay holds approximately five cords of properly stacked wood. A cord is 128 cubic feet, so five cords is about 640 cubic feet, which fits the bay stacked a little over six feet high.
Why is the firewood side open and ventilated?
Firewood needs airflow to season and stay dry. The ventilated bay keeps rain and snow off the stack while letting air move through it, so the wood keeps drying instead of trapping moisture.
Do I need a permit for a 10x20 shed in NJ?
The Hearthstead is 200 square feet. In New Jersey a detached shed of 200 sq ft or less is generally exempt from a construction permit, but zoning setbacks still apply and some towns have their own rules. See our NJ shed permit guide, and we can help with the paperwork.
