- Home animal agriculture is a listed accessory use in the AR-200 Agricultural-Residential Zone; farms (5+ acres, used for gain) are permitted in AR-200, R-120, R-80 and R-40.
- Each animal unit needs 5,000 sq ft of fenced outdoor area in the rear yard and 100 sq ft of shelter with a roof and three solid walls.
- Board of Health rule § 355-4: no chicken coop within 50 ft of any dwelling; § 355-3: fowl must be kept in a coop with an enclosed, covered run.
What about ducks?
Only on 5 acres or more, and at half the chicken count. Oxford's home animal agriculture rule counts 16 ducks as one animal unit (versus 32 chickens), with one unit allowed on 5 acres and one more per extra acre.
